PAYMENT OF FINES

How to pay fine and costs when appearance is waiverable

In Person

You may appear at the Violations Bureau, which is located in the Memorial Municipal Building at 166 East High Avenue, New Philadelphia, Ohio. Enter through the front entrance and the Violations Bureau will be directly in front of you.

Payments are accepted from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

When paying in person, bring the following with you:

  1. Payment -
The Court accepts payment by cash, check (personal, cashier, or company check), money order, Visa, Mastercard or Discover. Checks and money orders should be made payable to the New Philadelphia Municipal Court.
  2. Your copy (blue) of the citation –
Ohio law requires you to sign the plea of guilty and waiver of trial provisions on your ticket when paying in person. Further, Ohio law requires that you pay the TOTAL amount of the fine at that time. If you cannot pay the full amount by the time stated, then you MUST appear in court on the date and time stated on your ticket. You may explain your circumstances to the Judge or Magistrate in court and plead for additional time to pay at that time.
  3. Proof of Insurance (Financial Responsibility) –
If you did not show the officer proof of insurance when you received the ticket (look on the front of the ticket to see which box was checked), then you must show the court that insurance was in effect at the time of the citation. Acceptable forms of proof of insurance include: a copy of your insurance card or insurance policy showing effective dates and the car insured, or a completed proof of insurance form. Failure to provide proof of insurance will result in a suspension of your license by the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles.

Note: Proof of Insurance requirement applies to traffic cases.
